Major Components
Vision 2015 demonstrates an unprecedented commitment by Delaware to address the most urgent issue of our time: securing a world-class education for every student in the state, and ensuring that they are fully prepared for college and career. Many of the needed improvements will take place at state and district levels, yet all will have direct benefits for our students, educators, and families. Vision 2015 has six major components:
1. Set High Standards, Develop a Common Curriculum
2. Invest in Early Childhood Education
3. Develop and Support High-Quality Teachers
4. Empower Principals to Lead Their Schools
5. Encourage Innovation and Parent Involvement, and Require Accountability
6. Establish a Simple and Equitable Funding System
These are the six building blocks on which our vision is based. Other states and school systems have adopted one or more of these elements, but Delaware hopes to be the first to address them in such a coherent and comprehensive way. That’s Vision 2015. No exceptions. No excuses.
